thanks for your interest
We are delighted you are interested in joining us. If you are an adult interested in joining or training for water cover or coaching please contact us using our contact page.
We operate a waiting list for membership or the club, as we must operate safely within the ratios defined by SLSGB to whom we are affiliated. This ensures we have suitable water and first aid cover and do not overcrowd sessions.
Please see below for our admissions information for young people, and the stages to this process.
Admissions policy
As a local club it is important to us that we serve our local community, and our admissions policy reflects this ethos. This is detailed below.
get on our waiting list
We normally have an intake in September to join our winter pool sessions, and sometimes, depending on space, in January. Please complete the waiting list form, and keep us up to date of any changes to your EMail address.
Swim Assessment
At each intake a swim assessment is arranged and must be passed (see below for criteria) – this is to make sure you are safe when we run our sessions – particularly in the sea.
Admissions Policy
If you are already a member of another Surf Lifesaving Club you will not be added to the waiting list and cannot join Mullion SLSC.
We will allocate places from those on the waiting list in order based on the following priorities
1. Immediate relative of an existing SLSGB coach or lifeguard
2. If an immediate relative wishes to train or is training as a lifeguard or coach to assist regularly at our sessions. Renewal of membership of the young person will be dependant on them gaining their qualification or logging the hours needed to renew the qualification
3. Sibling of a young person who is already a member of the club
5. Living in Mullion or attending Mullion Primary or Mullion Secondary School or another Mullion Secondary feeder school
6. Living in neighbouring parishes such as Cury, Landewednack.
7. The remainder of the waiting list will be reviewed in the order they joined the list.
If no response is received to our EMails, or the swim assessment is not attended then you will be removed from the list.
Swim Assessment
Our swim assesment examines behaviour, attitude, confidence, stamina and technique. If under 10 years of age this will be 50m, 10 years of age and over but under 14 100m and for those 14 and over 200m. This must be swum unaided and without stopping. More details and important information will be contained in the E-Mail invitation to join.
Fees
Our membership fee structure is given below. Membership is always until 31st December of the year of membership and must be current to take part in our activities (essential for insurance and other aspects). This includes SLSGB membership and our own club membership – a full breakdown will be detailed when you receive the joining information
For those under 18 membership is £38 if joining from September onwards, or £64 for the whole year (or part)
For those 18 or over this is £38 from September onwards, or £60 for the whole year (or part)
For adults who help on a regular basis, and youth members who commit to help and complete the relevant qualifications we have a Volunteer membership – with membership and course fees covered by the club. Please contact us for more information.
Other Costs
Pool sessions are paid for separately and communicated with members directly. Other events such as competition entries are not included in our membership fees.
